You need three things in the theater - the play, the actors and the audience, - and each must give something. - Kenneth Haigh
Makeup & Hair
Each show has different needs from helping the performers apply their stage makeup to styling hair.
Commitment: 1 hour before the performance
Costumes
Each show has different needs from buying and altering clothes to making costumes from a pattern. Sometimes a little glue and your imagination is all it takes.
Commitment: As much time as you can spare
Lights
The lighting technician needs assistance from hanging the lights during Tech weekend to running the light board and spot lights during a performance. To hang lights you need to be able to climb ladders. To run the light board you need to be able to follow cues and stay awake!
Commitment: 1 day for hanging lights; 2 rehearsals; 3-4 hours per performance
Props
Props are bought, made or retrieved from our storage areas. During a show the props need to be in the right place at the right time and moved on and off the set at scene changes.
Commitment: Free time to purchase props; then 3-4 hours per performance
Set Building/Painting
This is usually done weekdays 10-5 and weekends when necessary and is supervised by our Technical Director.
Commitment: As much time as you can spare
Sound
Volunteers begin with load–in, where the sound equipment is set up on Tech weekend. During a performance the sound board operator follows cues, handles stage and body microphones and keeps the sound levels under control.
Commitment: 1 day for sound set-up; 2 rehearsals; 3-4 hours per performance
Audition Assistance
At auditions, each person needs to fill out paperwork and is given a number. Sometimes assistance is needed. At auditions for children's shows help is needed to keep things under control and running smoothly.
Commitment: Audition times as needed
