For a minute or perhaps two - and this is a long time - the theater makes man better and happier on this earth. - Jean Jacques Gautier

The first act for the Rosetown Community Theatre (RCT) was to choose the Rosetown Community Hall as their new home. Armed with brooms and paintbrushes, RCT gave the stage a fresh, professional look. Then, with the structure in place and cash in the bank, RCT began its' first season.

The Wheatbelt Parables

In January 2006, RCT invited Simply Superb to come and perform the Wheatland Parables; a musical setting of the parables of Jesus in modern day Saskatchewan with plenty of reverent humour added.

Inspired by the book The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John by Clarence Jordan, the Wheatland Parables is a lively, fun show that had toes tapping and laughs coming nonstop.

Being both written and composed by Grant Martens, the Wheatbelt Parables was the perfect introduction to the talent of Rosetown performers.

Arsenic and Old Lace

Using the proceeds from the Wheatbelt Parables, RCT took to the stage with it first production in March of 2006; Arsenic and Old Lace, written by Joseph Kesselring.

The story-line of Arsenic and Old Lace is both witty and fast-paced. A drama critic learns on his wedding day that his beloved maiden aunts are homicidal maniacs, and that insanity runs in his family.

RCT performed to three sell-out audiences at the Rosetown Community Hall, and met with fantastic reviews.

The success of these first two shows gave RCT enough resources to beginning planning for an much busier next season. It also allowed RCT to invest in 50 padded chairs!
